Structural Vibrations
Inside the Q-Box, the AFM rests on a platform that is suspended with elastomer cords. The platform is leveled with adjusters at the top of each of the four elastomer cords. This method for reducing vibration is historically considered the best approach, better, than passive and active vibration tables.
Sound Vibrations
The walls of the Q-Box, fabricated from 3/4” HDPE, are covered with 1” dampening foam. This combination gives reliable sound reduction inside the Q-Box. The HDPE structure is not susceptible to chemical and environmental degradation.
Note: The Q-Box serves as filter of structural and sound vibrations. Best AFM images are always measured in a vibration free environment.
