Atomic Force Microscopy Training and Education
AFMWorkshop is committed to providing exceptional Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) training and education for our customers. Our programs include various levels of AFM operation and applications workshops, online tutorials, one-on-one assistance, publications, and more:
Atomic Force Microscope Assembly Workshops
Customers build and learn to operate their own AFM during this 5 day workshop. Each day begins with robust seminars on AFM theory and each afternoon involves attendees building their AFMs from the ground up.
Advanced Atomic Force Microscopy Operation Techniques Workshop
The advanced operator class enables attendees to acquire the skills needed for measuring high-resolution AFM images. A mix of seminars and hands-on practice with AFMs on samples that facilitate measuring features of 1 nm and smaller. Techniques acquired are viable for all AFM makes and models. Taught by AFM experts Peter Eaton, Ph.D. and Paul West, Ph.D.
Bioapplications with Atomic Force Microscopy Workshop
Atomic force microscopes (AFMs)enable advanced measurements of biological samples that are not possible with other microscopy techniques. An AFM can also capture force/displacement curves that give a quantitative measurement of a specimen's stiffness or of molecular interaction forces. Techniques acquired are viable for all AFM makes and models. A mix of lecture and hands-on lab time, led by AFM experts Peter Eaton, Ph.D. and Paul West, Ph.D.
Atomic Force Microscopy for Characterization of Polymer Materials
A two-day intensive course taught by Dalia Yablon, Ph.D. and mixing lectures with hands-on AFM labwork. The focus is polymer applications and includes diverse topics such as sample preparation, AFM image processing to extract the most out of your images, best practices to optimize image contrast, and interpretation of AFM polymer materials images.
Atomic Force Microscopy for Characterization of Nanoparticles
The focus of this two-day intensive course is Nanoparticle characterization. Taught by Dalia Yablon, Ph.D., the course includes lectures along with hands-on AFM labwork. Sessions include reviews of various AFM modes most relevant for imaging nanoparticles, AFM image processing to extract the most out of your images, measurements of nanoparticle dimension topography, avoiding artifacts, and more.
Animated AFM Tutorials and Videos
Available free of charge via this website or in our customer-only forum, our animation and video educational tools help new users understand how an AFM operates and illustrate how to measure images on test patterns. Livestreaming and recorded webinars cover a variety of methods to enhance the skills of all AFM operators. Current Animated tutorials include an Introduction to AFM and a review of Vibrating Mode.
Customers can request a specialized online training session to learn how to better operate their AFMs for a small fee.
Atomic Force Microscopy Book
Dr. Paul West, founder of AFMWorkshop, is co-author of the leading introductory & overview text on AFM. Much of the training material used by AFMWorkshop is derived from this book.
On-site AFM installation and training
Customers can purchase a two day on on-site installation and training program with their new instruments
Atomic Force Microscopy Training Materials
All training materials used by AFMWorkshop are available to our customers, enabling them to share concepts and techniques with new AFM operators at their home facility.
